Pro Tribulus relies on tribulus terrestris, which is a vine plant that is indigenous to southern Europe, southern Asia, Australia, and Africa. The plant has a long history of use in many different cultures and is known to be an effective ingredient in health. The use of the saponins within the tribulus plant is noted in a number of historical documents and has been clinically tested and proven to support the increased production of testosterone in the body.
Pro Tribulus is one of the more inexpensive testosterone boosters on the market, so the question is, “Does it actually work?” The answer is yes, but with important secondary information.
As I’ve noted in a few other reviews on testosterone boosters that contain tribulus terrestris, the extract from this plant will certainly help the body to produce an increased level of testosterone. However, that’s only one part of the overall equation toward more muscle and strength.
The steroidal saponins in tribulus block testosterone receptors, which causes the body to assume that more testosterone is needed in order to maintain a healthy hormonal balance, and subsequently produces that increase. Yet why would men taking this supplement not experience an increase in size and strength?
The Conversion Problem
The main problem with testosterone booster supplements when they focus on one aspect (increasing the body’s production of the male hormone) is that certain amino acids will convert free testosterone into other hormones, most commonly estrogen. Estrogen is the female hormone and both men and women have testosterone and estrogen naturally in their systems.
When more estrogen is produced (through this conversion process), it is the female hormone that interferes with muscle growth and development, and that makes it more difficult to add or gain muscle.
One positive that Pro Tribulus has going for it is its price. At a little more than $12, you get a 2-3 month supply of Pro Tribulus. With the key ingredient being tribulus terrestris extract, it doesn’t address sleep issues, energy levels, or the conversion problem. There are other supplements that will do this and can be taken along with Pro Tribulus. Those extra supplements will generally costs between $10 and $20 for a one month supply, so when you do the math, there’s not much benefit to taking Pro Tribulus over any other supplement that contains Tribulus terrestris extract.
If you are looking for a boost in testosterone production in your body, then you’re going to be pleased with Pro Tribulus. It is simple and uses one main ingredient, the tribulus terrestris extract. However, if your goal is to gain strength and build muscle, then you are certainly going to need another supplement to support Pro Tribulus. It’s like using high octane fuel in an engine that doesn’t need it. You’re going to get high quality gas, but you won’t go any faster.
